
THE HISTORY

1984
New control room is designed by Todrank and constructed as an addition to the back of the building. A Harrison MR4 console is installed and the studio is rewired.
​
1998
Ricky Skaggs acquires Superior Sound Studio from Duane Allen and replaces the Harrison console with a Neve 8128.
2004
Amek 9098i console is acquired from Cello Studio in LA and is installed by Dave Rochester.
​
2008
Dave Rochester renovates the original Superior Sound turned drum booth as well as builds the “pickin parlor” booth.
​
2022
Dave Rochester is called upon once again to renovate the live room.
​
2024
The studio undergoes an extensive renovation of its communal spaces, a general technical revamp, as well as construction of the mic locker and amp lockers.

1968
Duane Allen acquires 329 Rockland Rd from the Singer Tile Company.
​
1970
Superior Sound Studio was constructed with the help of Westlake Audio making it the first Westlake room in Nashville.
